Located under Starcevicev trg, and right next to Zagreb’s main train station, the Importanne Centar, though left slightly in the past by the Katpol Centar and indeed, its own sister mall, the Importanne Galleria, is still one of Zagreb’s main shopping centres. Opened in 1994, the Importanne Centar was Zagreb’s first western-style shopping centre and unique for being located beneath the Starcevicev square and being almost completely underground. Though the Importanne no longer has the cache of new malls, it still boasts some big names and a variety of eateries, easily enough to keep all but the most demanding of shoppers happy and great for those passing through and not wanting to stray too far from the station.
