Maksimir Park

|
Out on the north-east side of the city centre, lies Zagrebís and indeed South Central Europeís largest park. Spanning an immense 316 hectares, the Maksimir Park was handed over as a gift to the city of Zagreb by Bishop Maksimilijan Vhorvec in 1794. Scattered with a number of man-made lakes and photo-inspiring avenues, Maksimir Park is an ideal option to while away a few afternoon hours. Donít miss the Belvedere or lookout point that sits on the central hill within the park. Only from here can the parkís immensity and beauty truly be appreciated. The zoo is located within the park and on the southern side lies the soon to be renovated Maksimir stadium, home to Dinamo Zagreb. If you happen to be around for bank holidays or during the summer, check out local listings for free concertsÖ like Zagrebís answer to Hyde Park. |
