New World Record set in Zagreb

Last week, residents of Zagreb attempted to set a new record for the number of simultaneous games of Monopoly.

The landmark event was organized by Turbo Limac in Zagreb, a shop for children. In Zagreb itself there were 80 participants with 120 in other cities in Croatia including Osijek, Rijeka and Split.

The attempt at breaking the world record was an international effort with about 800 other participants located in Germany, Portugal, Spain, Ukraine, France, USA, Serbia, China, Japan, Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Mexico, Panama, Columbia and Latvia.

While it will take about two weeks for Guinness to confirm the record, organizers are confident a landmark record has been set.

The event was organized to mark the release of the newest edition of Monopoly entitled "Monopoly Here and Now: The World Edition" which will be released in over 50 counties and in 37 languages.
