Mimara Museum

|
Zagreb's enormous Mimara museum owes its very existence to the generosity of the late, wealthy businessman Ante Topic Mimara. For sheer volume of art, there are few museums able to rival the more than 3,750 works on show at the Mimara. The building itself was previously a high school but, on inheriting Mimara's vast personal collection, Zagreb council felt it necessary to find a home extensive enough to do the collection justice - so the kids were out on the streets! With featured works from the Far East, Pre-Columbian America, Greece and Crete, as well as famous European works, there's likely to be something of interest for everyone. Be sure to check out the Rembrandt and Goya works, just two from the list of big-hitting artists on show. |
